Brad Wilson, CPP, and president of RFI Communications & Security Systems in San Jose, Calif., commented that the community of the hospital has changed dramatically. “You are talking about an environment where there are injuries, crowding and gangs in the emergency rooms, sensitive data areas, psychiatric wards and issues with nurses going to parking lots in all hours,” said Wilson. “There’s an overarching need for security but hospitals need funding and they don’t open the ‘safe door’ too often,” he said.

RFI Control Center’s Community Involvement –
186 Care Packages Shipped to 330th MP Unit in Afghanistan
San Jose, Calif. – November, 2010 -- RFI Control Center facilitated a program to send care packages to the 330th MP Unit in Afghanistan for supporting our troops who so proudly serve our country! Click here to view a list of the items accepted for donations. For more than two months RFI has been collecting from RFI employees, letters, items and money to purchase for the packages. We had alarm dealers contributed alongside our own employees. Click here to see a picture of the care packages ready for shipment. 186 care packages were filled and shipped to our military before Thanksgiving. RFI Security Renews CSAA Certification
San Jose, Calif. – March 31, 2010 -- RFI Communications & Security Systems of San Jose, Calif., has renewed its Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) Five Diamond Certification. The designation indicates that all of the company’s central station operators have achieved proficiency and certification by passing the CSAA Central Station On-Line Operator Training Course.
The courses cover virtually all phases of central station communications with customers, law enforcement, fire and emergency services communication centers. In order to achieve the “Five Diamond Certification,” each operator must have not only passed the course, but demonstrated:
- proficiency in alarm verification, which helps reduce false alarms;
- proficiency in communication with the Public Service Answering Points, such as the Emergency 911 centers;
- knowledge of electronic communications equipment, including radio;
- an understanding of the codes and standards of such organizations as Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Factory Mutual (FM), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and others; and
- proficiency in the area of emergency preparedness under a wide scenario of possibilities.
Of the more than 2,700 central stations operating in the U.S., less than a hundred of them have achieved this certification.
